Water & Wastewater Operator
Borough of Albion
The Borough of Albion, located in scenic northwestern Pennsylvania, is seeking a
motivated, dependable individual to join its Public Works Department as a
full-time Water & Wastewater Operator.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone interested in building a long-term
career in municipal water and wastewater operations. The successful candidate
will work alongside experienced and certified operators while gaining hands-on
experience in the operation, maintenance, repair, and regulatory requirements of
the Borough's water distribution and wastewater collection systems.
The Water & Wastewater Operator performs a variety of hands-on duties necessary
to keep Albion's essential public infrastructure operating safely, efficiently, and in
compliance with applicable requirements.
Responsibilities Include:
Assisting with the operation and maintenance of the Borough's water distribution
and wastewater collection systems.
– Performing routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and repairs.
– Collecting water and wastewater samples and assisting with required testing and documentation.
– Performing hydrant flushing and valve exercising.
– Assisting with leak detection and system repairs.
– Operating Borough vehicles, tools, and equipment.
– Maintaining Borough facilities, grounds, equipment, and infrastructure.
– Maintaining accurate operational and maintenance records.
– Responding to water and wastewater emergencies as needed.
– Assisting with snow removal and other Public Works operations.
– Following Borough safety procedures and applicable OSHA and Pennsylvania DEP requirements.
– Performing other duties as necessary to support Borough operations.
Because Albion operates with a small municipal team, the successful candidate
should be comfortable assisting wherever needed and working collaboratively
across Public Works operations.
Minimum Qualifications
– High school diploma or GED.
– Valid Pennsylvania driver's license.
– Mechanical aptitude with willingness to learn.
– Ability and willingness to obtain and maintain applicable Pennsylvania DEP
certifications.
– Ability to perform physically demanding work outdoors and in varying weather
conditions.
– Strong work ethic, dependability, and commitment to workplace safety.
Preferred Qualifications
– Previous water or wastewater experience.
– Utility, construction, maintenance, equipment operation, or public works
experience.
– Existing Pennsylvania DEP water and/or wastewater certifications.
Hourly Rate:
– Starting at $18.80
– Additional compensation may be available for other Borough-approved certifications in accordance with applicable Borough policies and the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
